Reliance Communications and Ericsson pen managed services deal

Reliance Communications has signed a seven-year managed services contract with Ericsson, which will see the Swedish vendor operate and manage Reliance’s fixed and mobile networks across India.

Ericsson will be responsible for all field maintenance, network operations and operational planning of Reliance’s 2G, CDMA and 3G mobile networks, and the agreement is Ericsson’s first pan-India managed services deal.

“Given the complexity of networks and the growing performance expectations from customers, we are banking on the experience, innovation and technical expertise of Ericsson to improve the productivity of our network and ensure customer satisfaction and retention by delivering superior network performance and service quality at optimised costs,” said Suresh Rangachar, head of commercial at Reliance Communications.

An expansion of an existing agreement, the deal strengthens the relationship between Reliance and Ericsson, and extends the vendor’s managed services footprint to all 22 circles in India.

“The growing uptake in the use of new technologies requires an increased focus on customer experience management, and that will be our focus as we take on this mandate,” said Magnus Mandersson, EVP and head of business unit Global Services at Ericsson.

“This is the first pan-Indian managed services deal for Ericsson and will help us consolidate our managed services leadership in India.”

The integration is effective of December 1 2014.
