Under the agreement, TM will provide MYTV with digital terrestrial television (DTT) services. According to local sources, the deal is valued at a total of approximately $316 million (RM1.06 billion) and will run over a period of 15 years.
The deal will see TM provide a range of services, including DTT network services, satellite distribution network services and broadcast contribution network services.
The deal is also expected to help Malaysia’s broadcasting industry with its migration from analogue to DTT.
“We are also glad to continue playing our role in the development of DTT services in Malaysia, hence providing Malaysians with enhanced wholesome viewing experience,” said Dato' Sri Abdul Rahim Mohamad Radzi, secretary general of Malaysia’s Ministry of Communications and Multimedia.
