Pacnet opens Tier 3 data centre in China

Pacnet has launched a Tier 3 data centre in Tianjin, China, in a bid to address growing demands in the region.

The TJCS1 facility is designed to manage increasing demands for data centre and managed services in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in north eastern China.

Located in the Gaocun Science & Technology Innovation Park in the Tianjin Wuging district, the data centre has SDN capabilities to enable customers to self-provision bandwidth based on their individual business needs.

“We are excited to launch one of our largest data centre facilities in the rapidly develop city of Tianjin,” said Carl Grivner, chief executive at Pacnet.

“The facility further reaffirms our capabilities in meeting data centre needs of both domestic enterprises and multinational corporations in the world’s fastest-growing economy.”

Developed by Pacnet’s equity joint venture in China, Pacnet Business Solutions (PBS), and the Tianjin Wuging government, TJSC1 can host 2,000 racks and the launch is hoped to establish the Gaocun Science & Technology Innovation Park as a technology hub in Northern China.

“To date, the district has attracted over US$1.9 billion in investment capital and is home to over 1,400 enterprises,” Grivner added.

“The opening of TJCS1 also positions Pacnet as an innovator in the data center industry in China, enabling the delivery of SDN solution in China.”

In January this year, Pacnet launched a Tier 3 data centre facility in Singapore.
