The agreement means Telma’s Ethernet and IP VPN coverage will be extended across PCCW Global’s MPLS network, which reaches 3,000 cities in over 130 countries, plus connectivity to and from the country.
“This collaboration is an important milestone in the development of our international business, especially international data services,” said Patrick Pisal-Hamida, CEO at Telma. “It will extend the coverage area of our services beyond Madagascar to the rest of the world and vice versa.”
As part of the agreement, PCCW Global gains greater local access to Madagascar cities, including the capital city of Antananarivo, and other major hubs. The companies said the agreement was further designed to aid business development in Africa.
“This agreement is a critical element of our wider pan-African development,” said James Welch, VP and head of sales EMEA at PCCW Global. “Interconnecting with Telma ensures that we can provide extensive connectivity to Madagascar and the rest of Africa at competitive cost and with faster provisioning times too.”
Telma offers services in fixed, mobile internet and connects to the EASSy submarine cable system, in addition to 6000km of national fibre optic backbone.
