Symphony Communications deploys Alcatel-Lucent 100G solution

Thai telco Symphony Communications has deployed Alcatel-Lucent’s agile optical networking portfolio to increase its network speed and capacity and support its launch of ultra-broadband services.

Under terms of an agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will enable 100G capacity on Symphony Communications core network, as well as optimise network performance.

“We trust in the recognised reputation of Alcatel-Lucent’s unmatched transmission technologies,” said Kranphol Asawasuwan, chairman of the executive committee at Symphony Communications.

“This 100G deployment solution will pave the way for higher speeds in the future and help us meet our goal of being the ‘Super Premium Telecom Service Provider’ in Thailand."

Symphony Communications will also be able to take advantage of cost-efficiencies and the ability to launch compelling new services thanks to added flexibility.

“We are committed to delivering innovative solutions that help service providers such as Symphony Communication to reduce their TCO thanks to the flex grid software upgrade and future 1Tbps technology ready,” said Sebastien Laurent, president and managing director at Alcatel-Lucent Thailand.

The agreement also supports the Thai government’s national broadband network initiative and is due to completed during Q4 2014.

Alcatel-Lucent also deployed its agile optical networking portfolio to Thailand’s Interlink Telecom this week.
