Telefónica calls for startups for Europe and Latin America academies

Telefónica’s international accelerator for start-ups, Wayra, has announced a global call for projects in order to seek additional business proposals.

Businesses in the early stages of development are able to apply for a place at a Wayra academy in various locations across Europe and Latin America, until October 5 2104.

Wayra was launched in 2011, and has academies in Spain, Germany, the UK, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Mexico and Venezuela.

The accelerator is targeting projects that take advantage of opportunities offered by the internet and new technologies to innovate, regardless of the sector or industry they are in.

The key emphasis will be on SMEs in cloud services and solutions, M2M technology and cybersecurity.

Wayra has a portfolio of 340 companies in operation and Telefónica has invested in excess of €14.3 million in these, with third party investment topping €43 million.
