Norway postpones mobile spectrum auction

Norwegian regulators have postponed a planned mobile spectrum auction in the country that was originally scheduled for January 2015.

According to reports, regulators have opted to postpone the auction because of TeliaSonera’s pending acquisition of Tele2’s Norwegian subsidiary, which is waiting for regulatory approvals.

A statement from the Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority read: “These potential changes in the market may be significant to several potential bidders in the auction.”

The auction for 1800MHz of spectrum will now be set for a later date.
