Manx Telecom reveals 4G plans

Manx Telecom on the Isle of Man, situated in the waters between Britain and Ireland, has today revealed plans for the launch of the island’s first 4G service.

The operator said it will launch its 4G LTE network on July 29 2014 and it is expected to cover 95% of the island’s population.

The network is designed to enable customers to experience speeds up to seven times faster than on Manx’s existing 3G network, which will also benefit from better coverage following the roll-out.

British cyclist, and holder of an MBE, Mark Cavendish will be official ambassador for the 4G network.

In January this year, Manx Telecom announced plans to float on the AIM exchange, in a bid to secure a private investor.
