Telenor and Vodafone strike interconnection agreement

Telenor Global Services (TGS) and Vodafone Carrier Services have announced an interconnection agreement for IPX and LTE/4G peering.

The partnership is designed to accommodate the increasing number of mobile operators using next-generation IP communications services, and TGS said its multi-service IPX network is designed to provide its mobile subscribers with international roaming capabilities.

“Through the partnership between Telenor Global Services and Vodafone, mobile operators can easily expand their global business by accessing IP services via a single, private and secure IP interconnection,” said Bjørn Iversen, CEO at TGS. “This direct interconnect and peering agreement enables faster connections and the best quality for IP.”

Both companies said the agreement is strategically important to expand LTE/4G capabilities across the world, and reinforces the importance of mobile operators within the IPX framework.

“Only a year after Vodafone Carrier Services was founded, this strategic partnership with Telenor Global Services is another sign of our commitment to deliver for customers who are increasingly demanding greater speed, quality, security and reach,” said Brian Fitzpatrick, CEO at Vodafone Carrier Services.

“In particular, mobile subscribers increasingly want a seamless global roaming experience and this deal with Telenor Global Services will help to ensure that we meet those expectations.”
