Deutsche Telekom focussing on GTS integration

Deutsche Telekom has revealed it is focussing on integrating fibre-optic provider GTS Central Europe within its operations and is not planning additional acquisitions in eastern Europe.

The company’s board member Claudia Nemat revealed that Deutsche Telekom is “focussing on optimising the businesses in the countries we are operating in, on integrating our assets”.

Deutsche Telekom struck a deal to acquire GTS for €546 million, in a bid to bolster its fixed-line offering in the region.

“For the time being, we are closing the acquisition of GTS,” she said. “In the next 12 months this integration is our focus in the region.”

GTS has operations across major eastern European markets including Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.
