Leading mobile players challenged a government ban that restricted operators from providing 3G services in pacts, and a telecoms tribunal has reportedly agreed to change the ruling.
Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea were banned by the Supreme Court last year from offering 3G services or adding 3G subscribers in areas of the country where they did not offer their own airwaves.
The companies were offering the services through separate agreements with each other.
In a long-running dispute, the same tribunal has previously given a split decision on the same plea by operators in 2012.
