Epsilon subsidiary launches IP SBC

Cataleya, a wholly-owned subsidiary of carrier neutral exchange company Epsilon, has today announced the launch of a session border controller (SBC) created specifically for IP services.

Cataleya’s SBC is designed to meet the needs of IP services from network through to application, offering end-to-end quality of service.

“Cataleya develops and markets a session border controller, but probably a more appropriate name for it is an IP multi services platform,” said Andreas Hipp, CEO at Epsilon, speaking exclusively to Capacity Daily.

Hipp explains that the capabilities of SBCs have dramatically improved over the last few years and now near resemble fully fledged voice, video and data switching platforms for IP networks.

“Everything is moving more aggressively to a full IP network, and we need to find a solution for how to add value to our existing customer base and help them during the transition to an all-IP network,” Hipp says.

Headquartered in Singapore, Cataleya’s SBC features comprehensive visibility via near real-time and trending analytics reporting, as well as simple and intuitive operation.

It is designed to stand as a network solution, delivering a high quality of performance and full scalability.

“No-one, to our knowledge, is offering a full Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) solution across the network,” Hipp says.

“Our solution combines a very intuitive network management platform and user interface, which allows simple and fast provisioning cycles, and consequently, reduced operational costs.”

The company is trialling its SBC with a number of European, North American and Asian interconnect and retail operators and are scheduled for completion by summer 2014.

“The Middle East is a very important emerging market for us, and [Capacity Middle East] is a great opportunity for us to be there at the right time.”

The Capacity Middle East 2014 conference opened today in Dubai and continues until March 5.
