In December last year the carrier’s subsidiary Ooredoo Algeria, formerly known as Nedjma, launched what it claimed to be the first commercial 3G network in Algeria. The network covers ten major cities including Algiers, Constantine, Oran, Ouargla, Setif, Djelfa and exclusively in Bejaia, Chlef, Bouira and Ghardaia.
Following a successful evaluation of its coverage and quality of service in the first ten regions, Oordeoo has received permission to launch 3G in nine more provinces including Blida, Tlemcen, Boumerdes, Tipaza, Biskra, El Oued Sidi Bel Abbes, Medea, Ain Defla.
This year, Ooredoo has also acquired a licence to operate in Myanmar, and has confirmed it will launch 3G services there this year.
