Chinese equipment vendor ZTE has taken over responsibility for the roll-out and operation of German mobile operator E-Plus's network. The move is part of a managed services contract finalised last year, which is reportedly the largest in Europe. [read more]

French vendor Alcatel-Lucent has announced an agreement with LIME to complete the upgrade of the operator’s network in the Caribbean to an all-IP architecture. Alcatel-Lucent will deploy its microwave packet radio (MPR) solution, in order to complete the all-IP conversion of Cable & Wireless-owned LIME’s network by the end of Q1 2014. [read more]

Real Future, a subsidiary of True Corporation, has completed the roll-out of its 4G LTE network in Thailand, in partnership with Swedish vendor Ericsson. The Thai operator is now able to deliver 4G services to the central, western, northern and southern regions of Thailand; the remaining areas are due to go live by Q1 2014. [read more]

Japanese telecoms company NTT Communications is set to expand its global footprint with the launch of an additional PoP in Luxembourg by the end of March this year. NTT will deploy its IP PoP at LuxConnect’s DC2 Tier-4 facility, located in Bissen, Luxembourg. [read more]

UK-based Geo Networks has announced a partnership with service provider Coreix to connect its two primary facilities in London. Using its dedicated fibre solution, Geo now connects Coreix’s units at Virtus, Enfield and the London Hosting Centre, Docklands, via a secure and scalable route. [read more]

Vodafone Greece and rival Greek operator Wind Hellas have reportedly signed an agreement to create a joint venture in the country. Ownership of the venture, called Victus Networks, will be split between both companies, and is designed to facilitate the sharing of 2G and 3G mobile infrastructure – following a previous agreement made in June 2013. Service provider Dimension Data has launched its new cloud data centre in London, bringing the presence of Dimension Data’s managed cloud platforms (MCP) to 10 locations worldwide. The London MCP will provide UK and global organisations with access to secure cloud services with 99.99% availability service level agreements (SLAs), as well as 24/7 phone support and integrated management capabilities. Equipment vendor Huawei and operator Vodafone have unveiled an LTE-Advanced FDD and TDD convergence carrier aggregation solution at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 in Barcelona. The two companies have reportedly achieved a single-user peak downlink speed of more than 500Mbps, claimed to be the world’s fastest. [read more]

Interoute has expanded its virtual data centre (VDC) platform to Milan, Italy. The move marks the sixth European data centre to host VDC, with the platform also available in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Geneva and Berlin. [read more]

Vodafone Germany has conducted a live test of LTE broadcast with Ericsson, Qualcomm and Samsung. The company claims to be the first European carrier to run the trial which took place in Borussia Mönchengladbach's football stadium on February 22 in Germany. [read more]
