Nokia eyes Juniper acquisition

Finland’s Nokia is reportedly considering the acquisition of US-based Juniper Networks in order to merge it with its own subsidiary, Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN).

A German newspaper today reported that Nokia was mulling the acquisition in a bid to strengthen its weak presence in the US market.

Juniper has a stock market value of $13.7 billion and Rajeev Suri, chief executive of NSN, reportedly flew to the US late last year to discuss a potential merger with the US company.

Nokia and NSN declined to comment, and Juniper representatives were not immediately available for comment.

Nokia is in the process of selling its handset business to Microsoft for $7.3 billion.
