France-IX appoints new CTO

France-IX has appointed Simon Muyal as CTO.

Muyal will head up the company’s technical projects, which include the rollout of 100G technology across its IXP network. He will also be charged with developing new value added services.

Muyal brings 10 years experience managing WAN networks and internet exchanges. Before joining France-IX, he served as network services manager at RENATER where he was employed for 10 years at various positions.

“Peering has greatly evolved over the past few years and France has stepped up to become one of the most appealing peering places,” commented Muyal.

In September last year France-IX signed an agreement with SEACOM for the delivery of peering services on the continent.
