Pacnet enhances wavelength service

Asian service provider Pacnet has today announced the upgrade of its Wavelength Premium International Private Line (Wave Premium) service.

The upgrade comes as a result of its newly enhanced 100G network in Asia-Pacific, and the Wave Premium service is designed to significantly decrease restoration time when a subsea outage occurs.

"The vast majority of subsea outages are caused by external aggression, not technical defaults or other operational issues and the time required to make repairs results in significant business impact for customers," said John Garrett, president of carrier services at Pacnet.

"With the 100G upgrade, our capacity enables us to offer a resilient, meshed network that provides customers redundancy with multiple routes to the same destinations."

The Wave Premium service is expected to address the growing demand for bandwidth in the region, and Pacnet’s extended 100G network capacity will provide carriers with higher availability, enhanced restoration capabilities and unparalleled route diversity.

In October last year, Pacnet deployed its optical mesh network with 100Gbps technology between Asia and the US.
