Juniper Networks launches architecture for next-gen cloud data centres
UK-based Juniper Networks has today launched MetaFabric – a specialised architecture for next-generation cloud data centres.
MetaFabric is designed to allow service providers and enterprises to address the challenges of managing multiple, geographically dispersed data centres.
The offering from Juniper is expected to enable customers to run data centre networks securely and efficiently via the company’s professional services and strategic partnerships.
Juniper believes existing network infrastructures are not flexible enough to keep up with emerging data centre technologies and customers are consequently prevented from fully capitalising on the potential of cloud, mobile and data services.
Rami Rahim, EVP of the platform systems division at Juniper Networks said: “For the first time, MetaFabric will allow companies to operate multiple data centres – physical and virtual, private and cloud – as a single, flexible pool of network resources, providing tremendous levels of flexibility and efficiency as enterprises and service providers shift towards an application-driven world.”
MetaFabric is delivered over a portfolio of switching, routing, orchestration, software defined networking (SDN) and security solutions, and it is hoped this will help network architects accelerate time to value.
Earlier this month, Juniper Networks extended its long-term partnership with Nokia Solutions and Networks to include secure IP connectivity for mobile broadband networks.
