Global Tower Partners put up for sale?

US wireless tower operator Global Tower Partners has reportedly been put up for sale and is expected to generate over $4 billion, according to sources.

A range of telecom tower operators, in addition to infrastructure funds are reportedly looking at investing in the largest privately held operator in US cell towers.

The company is owned by New York-based fund group Macquarie Infrastructure Partners and Sydney-based Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group, which bought the outsourced antennae facility provider in 2007 from buyout group Blackstone.

The deal gave Global Tower an enterprise value of $1.4 billion at the time.

Global Tower owns and leases over 16000 wireless sites and 6400 telecoms towers across the US, Mexico and Costa Rica.
