Vodafone Netherlands announces 4G launch

Vodafone Netherlands has announced the launch of its 4G network in four major cities in the Netherlands.

The next-generation mobile service will be available initially in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht, with Vodafone becoming the second operator in the country to offer the technology behind KPN.

Vodafone Netherlands is expanding its reach after securing both 800MHz and 1800MHz band frequencies for 4G, and the company further confirmed it will upgrade its 3G network speeds to at least 7.2Mbps for postpaid customers.

Prepaid customers will have access to the same speeds from September, while 4G customers are expected to benefit from speeds of up to 50Mbps.
