Telecom Italia launches LTE in further cities

Telecom Italia has today announced the roll-out of its 4G services to a number of additional cities across Italy.

Cities in Tuscany, Apulia, Lombardy, Campania, Lazio, Sicily, Piedmont, Sardinia and Veneto are expected to benefit from the service.

The LTE network is designed to deliver 100Mbps download, and 50Mbps upload speeds.

The company’s national 4G network is active is 190 municipalities, covering 30% of the population.

Telecom Italia expect this to reach 60% by 2015, and earlier this year suspended the spin-off of his fixed-line network.
