Ericsson has partnered with Swisscom for the delivery of its latest product, expected to enable the Swiss operator to launch global LTE roaming services. The Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) is designed to manage the growing demand for diameter signalling in mobile networks, which Ericsson expects to increase by up to ten times between 2011 and 2016. Japanese mobile operator, NTT DoCoMo, has announced the launch of an LTE base station with real-time 3G services. The base station is operational on the company’s Xi LTE and Forma 3G networks in Japan and is reportedly one 10th the size and less than one fifth the weight of an average LTE base station. Monaco Telecom’s partnership with Level 3 Communications signals the increasing demand in Monaco for faster connections, the company’s CEO Martin Peronnet exclusively told Capacity. Both companies partnered in a deal which will enable the principality of Monaco to connect to Level 3’s global internet backbone. [read more]




 

Business support solutions company CSG International has announced that Virgin Mobile France is to implement CSG Interconnect as part of its wholesale billing management solution. Virgin Mobile France operates as an MVNO in France, with 1.7 million subscribers, and the business invested heavily in a full MVNO infrastructure, with access to networks from both Orange and SFR. O3b has partnered with Malaysian telecommunications provider, Maju Nusa, for the deployment of a high-speed, 3G fibre network in the country. Ahead of its next-generation satellite launch in September, O3b claims to be the first satellite operator to enable a 3G network deployment via satellite. [read more]




 

Thai cable and satellite provider, TrueVisions, has selected Ericsson to upgrade its video compression system. The upgrade is expected to enable TrueVisions to deliver high-definition channels in a much higher quality to its subscribers. [read more]




 

Telecom New Zealand, Vodafone and Telstra have issued an official tender for the construction of the Tasman Global Access (TGA) cable. In February this year, the three companies signed a non-binding MoU for the TGA, which will span Sydney and Auckland with a design capacity of 30Tbps. [read more]




 

Verizon has partnered with Equinix to offer its Private IP services out of 16 of Equinix’s International Business Exchange (IBX) data centres worldwide. Verizon’s Private IP solution is offered in 147 countries across six continents, and the partnership is designed to provide enterprise customers with greater access to secure and reliable, global communications solutions. Pacnet has signed Master Service Agreements (MSAs) with China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile for internet connectivity services in China. Each agreement is for border gateway protocol (BGP) internet services, and will reportedly ensure scalable expansion opportunities for customers. [read more]
