Sprint files lawsuit against Dish and Clearwire

Sprint Nextel has issued an official lawsuit against Dish Network and Clearwire with the view of blocking Dish’s offer for the US wireless provider, Reuters reports.

In a statement on Monday, Sprint claimed Dish had: “repeatedly attempted to fool Clearwire’s shareholders into believing its proposal was actionable in an effort to acquire Clearwire’s spectrum and to obstruct Sprint’s transaction with Clearwire.”

The lawsuit has been filed at the Delaware Court of Chancery.

The waiting period for the tender offer to purchase Clearwire class A common stock expired on June 14 2013, according to a statement from Dish on Monday.

In early May this year, Clearwire’s chairman urged members of the board to vote in favour of Sprint’s offer, and later on in the same month, Sprint increased its bid for the company by 14%.
