GSMA launches online portal for operators

Mobile operator association GSMA has launched a new online platform to centralise its comprehensive statistics and trends across all mobile operators worldwide onto one shared portal.

The functions are designed to help company shareholders monitor particular areas or firms in the industry more closely. It is being targeted at operators, vendors, vertical industries, governments and regulators and academic institutions.

The platform will further follow the performance of 1,140 operators and 1,153 Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) across 3,505 networks, 65 groups and 236 countries worldwide.

“GSMA Intelligence enables [members] to support strategic decision-making within the industry through the provision of credible market information and analysis,” said Hyunmi Yang, chief strategy officer of the GSMA. “It is critical that industry leaders have accurate and relevant information at their fingertips – [the platform] will serve this need, making sense of the data and highlighting the trends that matter most for their businesses.”

GSMA Intelligence offers analysis, forecasts and an integrated set of industry metrics including: demographic and economic data; subscriber data and market penetration; operational data including retention costs and employee numbers; financial data and revenue; as well as information on smartphones and apps.

GSMA Intelligence’s basic service is now available free of charge and includes a ‘timeline’ tool which tracks the evolution of the mobile industry.
