TIS signs agreement with TNS for IPX peering

Telecom Italia Sparkle (TIS) has signed an agreement with Transaction Network Services (TNS) to implement a multiservice IPX peering connection.

As part of the new interconnection, both companies will be able to support the exchange of mobile signaling and GRX traffic.

The partnership adds to the growing number of IPX peering agreements worldwide, and TNS will now be able to further leverage TIS’ global reach and extensive IPX coverage.

TIS will also be able to expand its own footprint in North America via TNS, and both companies highlighted the benefits of accessing networks across different geographies as reasons for the partnership.

“The relationship with TNS represents an important step towards the adoption of IPX as the standard for next-generation IP-based services,” said Elisabetta Ripa, CEO at TIS. “Operators can easily access IP services via a single, private and secure IP interconnection, voice and data services a future proof environment, helping them to expand their business globally with the introduction of new advanced services.”

IPX allows operators a next-generation alternative to the internet and combines IP-based services with the security of traditional TDM networks.

The service is seen as essential for operators looking at utilising new services, including LTE roaming, VoLTE, HD voice and IP video conferencing.

“TNS is thrilled to announce the new relationship with TIS, a recognised innovator in global carrier services,” added Surendra Saboo, CEO of TNS’ Telecom Services Division. “Connecting our IPX networks is a significant step toward TNS and TIS’ common objective of establishing a worldwide community of interest for next generation roaming services including LTE, VoLTE, RCS, and other value added services.”
