Level 3 chosen by FOX Network for UEFA coverage

Level 3 Communications has partnered with FOX Network for the live broadcast of the UEFA championship soccer final in the US.

The UEFA Champions League final will this year see German teams FC Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund play for the cup on May 25 2013 at Wembley Stadium.

Level 3’s global fibre network connects directly to the stadium in London, allowing the company to deploy its Vyvx Solutions for end-to-end video broadcasting.

"The quality of a broadcast can help make or break a viewing experience for sports fans, so it's critical that FOX ensures its ability to deliver its content in a seamless, efficient and secure manner," said Mark Taylor, VP of media and IP services at Level 3.

Level 3 will reportedly broadcast the game to FOX Network, FOX Soccer Channel and FOX Deportes in Los Angeles for distribution to US viewers.

Keith Goldberg, VP of transmission operations at FOX, said in a statement that Level 3’s network would ensure seamless and secure delivery of an important sporting event for the US.

"The popularity of European soccer has grown exponentially in the US, and FOX is truly pleased to work closely with Level 3 to provide the live feed of the UEFA Champions League final to viewers across the country," he said.

Level 3 Communications announced the launch of a Carrier Cloud Voice solution earlier this month, in a bid to allow operators to focus on expanding their voice solutions.
