Huawei and Telenor strike partnership for IP microwave technologies

Huawei and Telenor have struck a three-year strategic cooperation agreement for IP microwave technologies.

The contract means Huawei’s second-generation E-brand and full outdoor microwave services will be widely deployed.

European operator Telenor has a wide footprint in central and eastern Europe and Asia, and the company is planning to deploy LTE networks on a large scale, utilising Huawei’s end-to-end IP microwave solution for LTE backhaul.

Huawei says its solution enables high bandwidth, smooth evolution, a quick deployment and easy management for LTE backhaul networks. The company’s backhaul solution is built on a universal IP platform, accommodating a range of microwave solutions.

“Huawei has forged a long-term strategic partnership with Telenor in the microwave field. We will continue to focus on customer needs and innovate in microwave solutions, helping our customers gain commercial success in the mobile broadband field,” said Jack Wang, president of Huawei Transport Network Product Line.

Huawei has deployed LTE backhaul networks for many global operators including: Vodafone in Germany, O2 in Czech Republic, T-Mobile in Austria and STC in Saudi Arabia.
