First outlined by Capacity in April, the expansion is part of a strategy by NTT Europe to enhance its presence in the CEE region.
Vienna is deemed one of CEE’s key regional hubs and the PoP will give NTT’s customers wider choices for connectivity while also allowing the carrier to reach new customers.
"This additional PoP in central and eastern Europe supports our recent recognition at the Capacity Awards 2012, winning the Judges Award for our investment and contribution to the CEE region in the last year, and how we've brought the Group’s reputation for quality and innovation to the region,” said Clive Hamilton, head of global IP network at NTT Europe.
"Choosing the right hubs is key for us in getting closer to our customers and to providing the market with a greater choice of high quality IP providers."
NTT also launched PoPs in Milan and Munich earlier this year to increase its European footprint.
"NTT's network expansion into Interxion's data centre in Vienna builds on its presence at seven of our other data centre facilities across western Europe. NTT is now well placed to benefit from the facility's close proximity to eastern Europe, as well as from the presence of over 150 customers already in the facility, many keen to take advantage of their global network for connectivity to all regions of the world,” said Christian Studeny, MD of Interxion Austria.
