Jibe attracts $8.3 million investment

Global cloud provider Jibe Mobile has received $8.3 million in investment as it continues to build a cloud product designed to help carriers deliver Joyn services to their customers.

Joyn is a GSMA-backed serviced that is designed to help operators add rich communications such as voice, video and instant messaging to their customers.

The investment aims to enable developers and game makers using Jibe’s platform to more easily add Joyn’s services.

The company has received its backing from the US investment arm of Vodafone Group, Vodafone Ventures, as well as Japanese firm MTI and other investors.

“There is no doubt that rich communications is becoming an increasingly important part of the consumer mobile experience. Jibe’s mission is to make carrier-grade communications simple and accessible for the global market,” said Jibe co-founder and CEO Amir Sarhangi. “In-app communication increases user engagement and creates new monetization opportunities for developers.”

“The investments from Vodafone and MTI will help us continue to innovate and extend our platform. We look forward to the next stage and ongoing strong partnerships with our expanding carrier and developer networks.”
