SUTEL selects AIRCOM to monitor network performance in Costa Rica

Costa Rican telecoms regulator SUTEL has selected AIRCOM International to monitor the country’s network performance.

AIRCOM’S ASSET tool will be used to analyse and benchmark the performance of the country’s mobile network infrastructure, in order to meet its aim of deploying mobile services to 95.42% of the country within five years.

SUTEL will also use the service to monitor the network performance of Costa Rica’s operators.

The measurement will then be used to inform policy decisions and ensure operators are meeting agreed quality standards. “Our mobile industry, while young, is growing fast,” said Glenn Fallas, services quality director at SUTEL.

“This year, mobile penetration in Costa Rica reached 100%, up from under 50% in 2008. AIRCOM’s ASSET tool will allow us to continually monitor the progress being made in ensuring that reliable telecoms services are available to everyone in the country.”

ASSET’s advanced network design capabilities can automate time-consuming tasks such as site configuration, traffic planning, network analysis, network dimensioning and parameter planning.

“With ASSET, SUTEL will be able to seamlessly analyse the multiple network technologies in use across the region,” added Alwyn Welch, CEO at AIRCOM.
