Cisco to acquire Cariden Technologies for $141 million

Cisco Systems has announced it will acquire software vendor Cariden Technologies in a deal worth $141 million in cash.

Cariden is a privately held network traffic management solutions provider, and it will be integrated within Cisco’s service provider networking group unit, said the company.

Based in California, Cariden provides network planning, design and traffic management solutions for a range of telecoms providers, and analysts have deemed it a possible acquisition target for larger players throughout the year.

Cisco has been widely active in the acquisition market this month, after it acquired cloud computing company Meraki for $1.2 billion, as part of its strategy to tap into the cloud space.

According to data provided by Reuters, Cisco shares were up at $18.91 in trading, after closing at $18.83 yesterday.
