Telstra Global launches nine PoPs worldwide

Telstra’s global arm has expanded its global footprint with nine PoPs in London, Marseille, Stockholm, Osaka, Tokyo, Sydney, Hong Kong and Chicago.

The expansion is being undertaken to satisfy increasing connectivity demand between key global markets, allowing customers to take advantage of growth opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region, according to the carrier.

Telstra’s Chicago PoP is targeted at enterprise and wholesale customers looking for low latency connectivity into Asia-Pacific. The London site is Telstra’s second in the city, and will provide low latency routes from the financial district.

In Marseille the PoP will provide a node to meet increased capacity demand and act as an entry point into Europe and the Stockholm PoP will offer IP VPN, VPLS and EVPL services providing Swedish customers director hub connectivity to locations in Asia.

Telstra’s Japanese PoPs in Osaka and Tokyo will serve enterprise and wholesale customers while the carrier’s two Sydney PoPs and one in Hong Kong are designed to offer more options to multinational enterprise customers with co-location and international connectivity requirements.

“The expansion highlights Telstra Global’s focus on enabling customer growth in Europe, the US and Asia. We continue to invest in our global infrastructure and technological innovation for an enhanced customer experience, and we now have one of the largest established networks in Asia-Pacific,” said Nathan Bell, director of products and marketing at Telstra Global.
