TeliaSonera signs IP transit service agreement in Georgia

TeliaSonera has announced it has signed a global IP transit service agreement with Georgian telephone provider Caucasus Online.

TeliaSonera International Carrier will supply Caucasus Online with IP transit connectivity based on its global IP network.

The deal will enable Caucasus Online to power its user with scalable, global reach at the speed of fibre. It is thought the Georgian company has selected TeliaSonera to ensure consumers can benefit from high-speed access and address demand for content, gaming and social communities.

“Our commitment to provide our clients with reach, scale and reliability they deserve is unwavering,” said Erik Hallberg, president, TeliaSonera International Carrier. “With this new IP transit service agreement with Caucasus Online we will power its users with a world-class IP transit service.”

Caucasus has been offering services in Georgia since 1998, and in 2006 it consolidated the ISP market after it acquired Georgia Online and Sanet.

“As a capacity and internet provider, TeliaSonera International Carrier plays an important role in the whole Caucasus region,” said Levan Kundadze, general director at Caucasus Online. “We consider them a hugely significant partner, with high potential for growth.”
