The carrier has created a new subsidiary, Zain Group Wholesale, for this purpose.
Zain COO, Hisham Akbar, said that the carrier is planning to exploit its wireless technology leadership, coverage and licensed countries of operation to their maximum potential.
"The launch of this new initiative is another example of Zain Group's pioneering efforts in the telecom sector. Zain Group Wholesale allows us to leverage our existing competencies and assets while at the same time giving our customer base access to additional voice and data services,” said Akbar.
The new subsidiary is expected to enjoy a jump start due to significant organic traffic from existing Zain customers and will look to acquire and participate in the deployment of fibre.
Zain believes that its wholesale strategy will help cater to growing broadband traffic across the Middle East, complementing its existing strategy in the region.
Akbar also revealed plans to offer OTT style services to mobile users.
