Etisalat outlines expansion plans with CEO appointment

Etisalat has appointed Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar as group CEO, to lead a new expansion phase in which the UAE based carrier aims to strengthen its position globally.

Julfar, who first joined Etisalat in 1986, has held various management positions at the company including COO and general manager for Dubai operations.

He also serves on the board of Etisalat’s Saudi subsidiary Mobily, as chairman of the risk management committee, and Indonesian subsidiary Excelcomindo where he is a member of the compensation and remuneration committee.

“Ahmad has played a significant part in Etisalat’s growth over a quarter of a century, assuming many senior technical and managerial responsibilities with great determination and success. We are confident that his new role at the group’s helm he will lead it through the important phase ahead, bolstering its expansion beyond 18 countries,” said Mohammed Omran, chairman of Etisalat.

Julfar said that Etisalat had huge potential for growth on a global level but that it would also continue to ensure that subscribers had access to the most advanced technology in its home market, UAE.
