China Telecom combines foreign businesses under new subsidiary

China Telecom, the world’s largest fixed telecoms provider, has combined its foreign businesses into a single entity, China Telecom Global (CTG), to enhance its position in the international market.

CTG integrates China Telecom’s international businesses CT Hong Kong, CT Americas, CT Europe and CT Global Business, with the aim of accelerating overseas expansion and enhancing decision making in global network infrastructure and service supply.

The entity will aim to achieve a strong position for network, products and services in Asia and plans to rapidly expand across the globe becoming a competitive international operator.

Among CTG’s strategies are to enhance its enterprise offering for Chinese companies eyeing international expansion and multinationals entering China, through collaboration with global partners.

China Telecom’s assets include the world’s largest Chinese internet network, ChinaNet, which is complimented by interconnections with terrestrial cables and subsea connections through Europe, Central Asia and Greater Mekong Sub-Regions.

The company has overseas branches in 26 regions, 32 PoPS around the world, 11 direct terrestrial cables connected to mainland China and more than 10 submarine cable systems.
