Optimus to deploy Huawei antennas for LTE

Portuguese mobile operator Optimus has selected Huawei’s multiband antennas for its commercial LTE network.

Huawei said that its UMTS/LTE antennas will provide Optimus with added LTE operation without increasing antenna numbers and will also minimise rental and infrastructure costs.

The antennas operate on the 1800MHz, 2100MHz and 2600Mhz frequency bands and are claimed to improve system throughput, capacity and overall network performance.

"Huawei antennas showed great performance on existing network tests, which gave us more confidence in LTE network deployment. Optimus is committed to enhancing user experience for mobile broadband, hence Huawei has been our strategic partner in mobile broadband development since 2005," said José Pinto Correia, CTO of Optimus.

"Our cooperation with Optimus has served as a great example for LTE commercial network deployment in Europe," said Zhou Taoyuan, Huawei Wireless Network Business Unit President for Antenna and IBS Solutions. "Huawei is dedicated to providing advanced antenna systems for operators around the world in order to enhance overall network performance and provide better network experience for end users."
