PCCW Global continues to extend global reach in 2012

PCCW Global has signed a MPLS network interconnection agreement with the Indonesian operator PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), as the company once again looks to extend its global reach during 2012.

The agreement will enable PCCW Global to offer its international customers greater local access in Indonesia, while also extending Telin’s global service coverage via access to PCCW Global’s MPLS network.

PCCW Global's SVP of global marketing and sales Frederick Chui said Telin owns “one of the most extensive networks in Indonesia”. He went on to add that the company’s “international customers can experience the quality service and reliable access into Indonesia via this collaboration”.

PCCW Global’s network now covers over 1,500 cities in 110 countries in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas. During 2011, the company signed a string of interconnection agreements with operators worldwide which have helped extend its global reach as well as outline its continued commitment to switched Ethernet - a sub sector of the industry in which it is becoming increasingly well positioned.

In June 2011, the company began collaborating with Tinet to provide Ethernet services for customers in Asia, Europe and the Americas. By August, PCCW Global had already made a strong play in the Latin America market after securing a partnership with ICT solutions provider Internexa to interconnect respective Ethernet platforms. Later that year, it also went on to extend its partnerships with both Vietnamese telco FPT Telecom and Cypriot operator Cyta to incorporate Ethernet services.

To find out more about PCCW Global, watch out for an exclusive interview with its CEO Marc Halbfinger which will be in the forthcoming February edition of Capacity magazine.
