Telstra International expands Ethernet service portfolio

Telstra International has announced an upgrade to its existing global Ethernet services by improving service offerings for its customers.

Through the upgrade, Telstra’s Ethernet customers will have access to the delivery of Network Interface Devices (NIDs) to offer end-to-end carrier Ethernet services on customer sites. The service has been approved by Metro Ethernet Forum standards and the company will also provide Ethernet Media Convertors (EMCs) which are designed to ensure network consistency and minimise complexity.

“These enhancements ensure that our portfolio of Ethernet Private Line Services and Ethernet Virtual Private Line Services (EPL and EVPL) and our Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) can now enable more global organisations to realise the value of carrier Ethernet services in simplifying IT infrastructure and offering more capacity at lower costs,” said Nathan Bell, global director of products and marketing at Telstra International. “The portfolio also offers services which are ideal for accessing cloud services and the corresponding returns of reduced complexity, lower costs and improved scalability on offer,”

Additional services offered on the company’s Ethernet upgrade includes an expansion of reach to where the services was not previously available, a monitoring system to increase reliability and the capability to reduce and upgrade capacity on the service in response to demand.

“Enabling growth, whilst reducing costs through greater operational efficiencies and productivity improvements are among the top priorities for this year”, said added Bell. “These additions to the Ethernet portfolio will facilitate this with enhanced customer service and improved service management and delivery.”
