Chinese IPTV market worth $2.16 billion in 2014

The Chinese IPTV market is predicted to be worth $2.16 billion by the end of 2014 according to research group RNCOS.

Revenue from the Chinese IPTV market was estimated at approximately $640 million in 2010 and is expected to reach $820 million by the end of 2011, showing a year-on-year growth rate of almost 28%.

The number of IPTV subscribers in China is predicted to grow at a CAGR of 29% during 2012 to 2014. The reason for this growth in consumers is due to the increased disposable income available to the Chinese population. The report estimates that disposable income per head in the country has increased at a CAGR of 12% during 2008 to 2010. Subscriber figures have also been helped by the fact that IPTV operators are offering services for as little as $4.6 to $6 per month.

The huge population, partnered with a penetration rate of less than 1%, means there is still potential for IPs.
