ZTE expects to earn $2 billion from cloud market

Chinese vendor, ZTE, aims to make over $2 billion in revenues from cloud computing in the enterprise market in 2011 as part of its plan to enter the IT industry.

ZTE president Shi Lirong commented that the company expects cloud computing to eventually account for a third of its total revenue.

ZTE plans to offer datacom products, enterprise networks and servers, and storage products for government services.

Wang Wei, SVP of ZTE commented that the company hopes to become one of the top three solution providers in the market, providing solutions such as PaaS (Platform as a Service), SaaS (Software as a Service), and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service).

ZTE said that it wants to put the traditional applications of its operator customers in the cloud through a re-plan of resources against pipes to maximise the efficiency of its assets.
