NetIX is set to enter the US market for the first time by launching a new point of presence at the NJFX colocation campus.

NetIX, a European-based carrier class Ethernet exchange, connects over 20 IXPs, serving more than 100 members, reaching nearly 5000 direct peers in 28 data centres, and delivering 500Gbps of traffic.

It is aiming to gain a foothold in the US market, where around a quarter of all of the world’s networks are concentrated, to offer peering services to American carriers.

Our market-entry through the PoP at NJFX will provide opportunities for American peers to exchange traffic directly with other peers around the world on the shortest possible physical and logical paths, which will in turn be of tremendous value for the Internet eco-system.” said Dean Belev, VP services of NetIX.

According to NetIX CEO Mariyan Rangelov, the company picked NJFX because of the array of subsea cable systems it has landing at its cable landing station. NJFX owns and operates a 64,800 square foot purpose-built Tier 3 CLS colocation facility and 58-acre campus in Wall, New Jersey.

“We chose to partner with NJFX because, from a business perspective, we see the great value of subsea cables coming directly into the NJFX CLS, which is very attractive for an Internet exchange,” comments Mr. Rangelov. “From a personal perspective, we have found NJFX extremely easy to work with and look forward to bringing the new PoP online in the spring of this year.”

NJFX is located in New Jersey, right next to Tata Com’s CLS. It links to a number of existing and upcoming subsea cable systems, including Google and Facebook’s upcoming Havfrue Cable, connecting the US to Ireland and the Nordics region; Tata’s TGN Atlantic, which runs to the UK; and Seabras-1, owned by Seaborn Network, which links the US to Brazil.

It also announced a number of key partnerships last year, with Epsilon connecting its SDN backbone to NJFX’s facility, allowing customers to bypass New York entirely. It also announced that Windstream has boosted the capacity along its coast-to-coast connectivity US route from NJFX’s site.

“For our part, we are thrilled to work with NetIX, as the company has an expansive network throughout Europe with premier locations such as Madrid, Frankfurt, Paris and London, along with other, more difficult to reach locations in Europe and beyond it,” states NJFX General Manager Felix Seda. “This makes the network very appealing to the international networks that we work with, either here in the U.S. or also in Latin America. This is the true value of what NJFX can do for our clients when connecting into our ecosystem and collaborating for each other’s success.”
