US colocation and wholesale data centre provider H5 Data Centers has acquired a 240,000 sq ft, purpose-built data centre in Quincy, Washington.

The acquisition expands H5 Data Centers’ national portfolio to 12 data centres - Albuquerque, Ashburn, Atlanta, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, Phoenix, Quincy, San Jose, San Luis Obispo, and Seattle -  and compliments its 300,000 sq ft data centre in downtown Seattle.

"H5 Data Centers is experiencing strong demand for wholesale data centre services across the United States and the Quincy data centre represents an incredible growth opportunity for us," said Josh Simms, founder and CEO of H5 Data Centers.

"We welcome a world-class team of data centre professionals to our company as we look to immediately expand the critical capacity of the data centre to serve the mission-critical needs of leading global enterprises.”

Central Washington is one of the US’s largest wholesale data centre markets because of its access to low-cost, renewable energy, Washington-state sales tax incentives, and reduced exposure to natural disaster risks.

"Central Washington has the right combination of power pricing, sales tax incentives, low latency to major peering centres and renewable energy mix to appeal to a very large spectrum of global data centre users," added Simms. "Local community leaders, public utility providers, and state legislators have helped develop the area into one of the most desirable locations in the world for large data centre users.”

Intuit’s former purpose-built data centre is move-in ready and will feature a 24x7 team of facility engineers, remote hands personnel and security professionals. The on-site data centre team boasts an average existing tenure of more than seven years per person. Available immediately, H5 Data Centers can offer high-density deployments in an environment that has a track record of 100% uptime since initial commissioning.

Quincy data centre highlights:

- 63-acre data centre campus with an existing 240,000 sq ft building

- Over 40 mWs of turn-key colocation space at full build-out

- Approx. $0.03/kWh average annual cost of power

- Access to 100% renewable hydro power

- 100% Washington state sales and use tax abatement on data center equipment

- High-density deployments of up to 500 Watts per square foot

From the end of 2017, Zayo Group began providing H5 Data Centers’ customers in Cleveland, Denver, Phoenix and Seattle with its CloudLink services. The national colocation and wholesale data centre provider expanded its footprint, which stood at 1.5 million sq ft at the start of 2017, to over 2 million sq ft of data centre space under management today.
