Amdocs launches 5G ready-to-use solution for CSPs

Amdocs has launched a comprehensive support solution for 5G rollouts for communication service providers (CSPs).

The solution in question supports a wide range of acceptance and optimisation tools that ensure CSPs can select the best equipment providers for their 4.5G, 4.9G and 5G rollouts.

“As a radio access network services partner, we understand the challenges CSPs will face when transitioning to 5G”, said Anthony Goonetilleke, group president of Amdocs Technology. “We are proud to introduce new capabilities of our network optimisation platforms to help support CSPs in creating the best user experience on the road to 5G. Today we are announcing support for 5G New Radio technology in the Actix Analyzer and ActixOne products, and the support for 4.5 and 4.9G technology features that provide CSPs with the capability to reach the 1Gbps throughput target.”

The acceptance and optimisation tools are available in the Actix Analyzer and ActixOne platforms as part of the LTE-Advanced-Pro and 5G technology offerings.

Actix Analyzer and ActixOne supports 5G New Radio network rollout capabilities and are based on AmdocsONE architecture, which offers service acceleration capabilities as part of network virtualisation roll-out. Actix Analyzer and ActixOne have also been enhanced to support the optimisation and network troubleshooting of 5G New Radio allowing mobile operators to independently verify the performance, enforcing KPIs, with full insight and control over the rollout process of 5G.

Amdocs says that its Open Network portfolio is being used globally to optimise 4.9G technology features such as large-scale carrier aggregation, massive multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) and high rate modulation coding schemes. And that it is ideally positioned to offer multi-vendor tool chain support for 5G rollouts that includes mmWave technology, beamforming, massive carrier aggregation and new 3GPP Rel.15 signaling.

In March, Amdocs partnered with Microsoft to implement its Open Network Automation Platform (ONAP) on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. Meaning that operators are able to deliver virtual network services running on Azure, orchestrated and managed using ONAP.
