Flexenclosure completes new eCentre data centre for CenturyLink in Ecuador

Flexenclosure has completed constructing a data centre for CenturyLink in Ecuador.

Ecuador

Located in the Ecuadorian capital, Quito, CenturyLink will use the facility to offer colocation, hosting, cloud computing, security, collaboration, communication and managed services to its national and international corporate clients at the facility.

"We are committed to deploying the highest quality infrastructure and providing the most innovative solutions and services to our customers," said Gabriel del Campo, vice president of data centres and security at CenturyLink Latin America.

"Located close to our customers, with 24x7 availability and the latest security systems, this state-of-the-art data centre is built to optimise power and space efficiencies, and to enable us to bring new managed services to market very fast.”

The facility will give customers a processing environment designed to provide high levels of availability, service quality and speed of access to the rest of the world, as well as fibre route diversity for the implementation of contingency and disaster recovery environments.

In line with CenturyLink’s commitment to the highest industry standards, the facility has been designed and built in order to achieve Uptime Institute Tier III certification. The first phase of the project consists of a single-story 300KW data centre. However, the earthquake-resistant facility is capable of vertical expansion up to two floors, providing additional white space for more than 100 racks on each floor, thus optimising the site footprint for maximum use.

“This new data centre in Quito is the latest in a fast growing list of Flexenclosure deployments in Latin America,” added David King, CEO of the internet infrastructure specialist Flexenclosure.

“eCentre is the solution of choice for data centres requiring almost unlimited configuration flexibility without compromising on future expansion options, so they can quickly and easily grow in line with business needs.”

The custom-designed eCentre data centre was prefabricated, pre-integrated and fully tested at Flexenclosure’s manufacturing facility in Sweden, before being shipped to Ecuador for final construction on site – maximising capital efficiency and reducing deployment time and overall project risk.

In April, Flexenclosure expanded its presence in Southeast Asia by launching a new eCentre data centre in partnership with Globe Telecom. 2017 saw the company secure a €10 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to help in its research and development activities whilst also helping to drive its growth strategy. Flexenclosure was selected in 2016 by IHS Towers to build 1,000 energy efficient hybrid power systems to power IHS’s Nigerian mobile telecom towers.

Flexenclosure has also struck quite a few deals in Myanmar over the past few years, including a deal in 2016 with fibre provider Golden 11 and in 2015 the infrastructure specialist was contracted by Burst Networks to supply Myanmar’s first Tier IV data centre.
