Orange launches Wholesale and International Networks division

Orange has redefined and accelerated its multi-services operator strategy with the launch of a new Wholesale & International Networks division.

 Amid the renewal of the Group’s executive committee, Jérôme Barré has been appointed chief executive officer of the new division, which is embracing all wholesale activities, both in France and internationally, as well as networks and infrastructure, and roaming activity, under one roof.

Barré was appointed as chief executive officer of Wholesale & International Networks for Orange and started his role on Wednesday 2 May.

Barré’s mission will be to develop these parts of the business which are essential elements of the Orange Group network operator business model. He brings to Orange Wholesale & International Networks his strong experience of inter-departmental cooperation and coordination, as well as a strong vision for the development of these vital parts of the Group’s business.

He joined Orange in 1985 and since then, has held several managerial positions within an operational and a business scope. In 2016, he became executive vice president of the Orange Group in charge of Human Resources. Barré is a graduate of École Polytechnique as well as of Télécom Paris Tech.

The Group has a total customer base of 263 million customers worldwide at 31 March 2018, including 202 million mobile customers and 20million fixed broadband customers. The Group is present in 28 countries. Orange is also a leading provider of global IT and telecommunication services to multinational companies, under the brand Orange Business Services. 

In March 2015, the Group presented its new strategic plan “Essentials2020” which places customer experience at the heart of its strategy with the aim of allowing them to benefit fully from the digital universe and the power of its new generation networks.

Orange is investing heavily into artificial intelligence, internet of things, blockchain, big data, augmented reality, virtual reality, and very high-speed fixed and mobile broadband to help it achieve its Essentials2020 vision. Collaborative innovation is a key part of Orange’s strategy. Innovating with all the players in its ecosystem to capture promising new growth markets and continue to enrich its customers’ uses. To exemplify this, Orange invested €700 million in research and innovation in 2017.

Pierre-Louis de Guillebon as CEO of Orange International Carriers will continue to manage international connectivity and transmission services for wholesale voice, mobile, internet and security services within this division.
