Speaking exclusively to Capacity, Snowhorn explained what his new role at EdgeMicro will entail: "I am truly excited to join EdgeMicro with today being my 2nd day at the company. I did not take a day off from my transition from CyrusOne to EdgeMicro as the Internet economy never sleeps so down time gets you nowhere (in more ways than one!). I will be guiding the company's strategy especially with product rollout, content company strategy and an overall guide to connectivity and interconnection at the sites."

Snowhorn joins the likes of Equinix co-founder Jay Adelson and AT&T associate general counsel Michael White, who both sit on the company’s advisory board. The rest of the leadership team is made up of the likes of Mike Hagan, the former vice president of colocation and cloud at Schnieder Electric. As well as Greg Pettine, who served as director of business development at Schnieder Electric for 4 years prior to joining EdgeMicro as co-founder and executive vice president of business development. Anton Kapela serves as the company’s chief technology officer having worked for a number of technology companies such as 5NINES LLC and Windy Apple Technologies. And lastly Loren Zweig is vice president of operations at EdgeMicro and has worked Atlas Engineering, the data centre facilities engineering company, for the last eleven years.

Before joining CyrusOne in 2012, Snowhorn spend 12 years as vice president of business development and interconnection at Terremark, a datacentre and cloud services company acquired by Verizon in 2011. For them he developed emerging markets and drove the business towards peering and interconnection throughout its portfolio. In addition, Snowhorn is assocateed with a number of industry organisations such as the Open Inter Exchange Association – where he served for two years as a board member, as well as the the North American Network Operators Group, Reseaux IP Europeans, the European Internet Exchange Association, and the Global Peering Forum, an organisation he co-founded with Equinix, AMS-IX, DE-CIX, and LINX.

"The mobile economy requires a comprehensive and ubiquitous solution to drive scale for delivery of content. To drive that forward EdgeMicro will initially be deploying in 30 U.S. markets with a goal to grow within those markets and many further markets. Our scale will be rapid and global in scope as we provide the heart of the Internet edge," added Snowhorn.

EdgeMicro specialises in mobile edge colocation services and in partnership with Schneider Electric has already developed a 6-rack, 48kW mobile edge micro data centre. In addition, it offers a number of wireless edge services including: Tower Traffic Xchange which enables local IP access at the tower; IT specialists’ service called Remote Hands; as well as general operations and maintenance options that enable things like 24/7 monitoring and 4 hour on-site emergency response.
