CenturyLink has promoted former Level 3 Communications country director Bart Van Aanholt to the newly-created role of vice president of sales for continental Europe.

In his new position, Van Aanholt will be tasked with driving sales growth across key markets, as well as leading strategic planning to support new and existing enterprise customers.

The role will also see him involved in what CenturyLink referred to as its “renewed commitment” to its wholesale strategy, which is “an intrinsic part of the business to service carriers and partners”.

Van Aanholt has almost 20 years of experience in telecoms and more than two decades of history in the networking industry. He previously had stints at AT&T and T-Systems before joining Level 3 as an account director in 2005. He spent more than a decade in a variety of roles at Level 3, including director of sales in Benelux, Nordics and Baltic regions, prior to its merger with CenturyLink last year.

Van Aanholt said: “The new CenturyLink spans across more than 30 countries in EMEA, with dense network coverage and an expansive portfolio of network solutions to support customers’ continued growth.

“My focus on specific markets enables us to be close to customers as their trusted advisor and help them solve their digital transformation needs. We’re challenging the market with our fresh approach, which combines an unrivalled combination of dynamic network connections and multi-cloud management capabilities, layered on top with a differentiated customer experience.”
