IX Reach appoints new CEO amid company expansion

IX Reach has appointed former Telia Carrier senior executive Simon Vye as its new CEO.

Vye, who became CEO on 28 February, replaces founder Stephen Wilcox who takes on the role of president and will remain active in day-to-day running of the business.

Vye brings over 25 years of experience in senior management positions in global telecoms companies across Europe, the US, Middle East and Asia, to the provider of remote peering and cloud direct connect. He has a deep understanding of technology, its growth trends and patterns, and their impacts on international telecommunications markets.

“IX Reach has an impressive history and track record and my main focus is to build and grow IX Reach into a truly next generation communications services company and to ensure a hugely successful future,” said Vye.

“In a world where everything is online, cloud based, and collaboration is key, more and more connectivity and bandwidth are imperatives. We will leverage IX Reach’s broad portfolio of solutions and unique position as the largest provider in the sector to enable our partners to deliver their services to their customers.”

He was most recently head of EMEA and Asia sales at global fibre network giant Telia Carrier and before that held the position of CEO at Telstra Global EMEA. Prior to 2007, he held senior management positions at AT&T, Colt, Liberty Global and Sprint.

Based at IX Reach’s Manchester HQ, Vye will lead the senior management team and oversee IX Reach’s business operations covering offices and staff in Europe and the Americas.

Stephen Wilcox, president and founder of IX Reach, said: “Simon has extensive global experience in running multinational network operators like IX Reach and knows the challenges and areas that require attention. He is exactly what IX Reach needs in order to push our strategy and continue growth, and we’re incredibly pleased to have him on board.”

In November 2017, PCCW Global and a revived company, IX Reach, split the assets of Console Connect in a pair of separate, but unannounced deals. PCCW Global acquired Console Connect’s brand, platform, and technology team, but its network assets and customer contracts were hived off and put under separate ownership under the name IX Reach.
