Switch Datacenters launches global licensing model

Switch Datacenters, the provider of tailor built data centres, has announces the launch of its wholesale data centre-as-a-service programme.

The new programme will enable the rapid acceleration of data centre deployment on a global scale by an allowing organisations to license patented data centre technologies from Switch Datacenters and get an integrated, full-service data center infrastructure package with highly energy-efficient cooling, modular power infrastructure and racks included.

“Our data centre-as-a-service programme provides hyper-scale data centre providers, enterprises, cloud services providers and real estate owners alike the opportunity to deploy new data centres within short-term notice,” said Gregor Snip, CEO and founder of Switch Datacenters.

The programme is aimed at wide range of customers, which includes: cloud services providers (CSPs), managed services providers (MSPs), data centre owners/operators, hyper-scale data centre providers and property owners. According to Switch Datacenters interest has already been shown from potential licencing partners in the US, France, Dubai, Sweden, and Africa.

The data centres being delivered through the programme are being built in the Netherlands and then shipped globally to its location. Its build-to-suit data centre design has already been adopted and deployed for IBM in the Netherlands. Overall the data center-as-a-service programme is an end-to-end solution including the racks and deployment of security technologies onsite.

The data centre-as-a-service programme offers four options they are:

Through customer data centre ownership, where a customer receives full ownership of the data centre build. License fees are paid for design, patents for cooling technology and rapid power deployment, as well as maintenance.

Then there’s hybrid data centre delivery. This option gives shared ownership and shared responsibilities of the data centre build. There are no high upfront costs from the customer because Switch Datacenters is participating financially. The customer retains control, while able to use Switch Datacenters patented data centre technologies.

Next there’s the full service lease data centre option. It works on a monthly fee package that provides end-to-end data centre deployment and operational services, with customer care delivered by Switch Datacenters. Again there’s no upfront costs meaning customers can immediately take advantage of the professional data centre infrastructure being implemented.

And lastly there’s cooling and/or power-as-a-service option. For this customers only pay for the cooling and power technologies being deployed. Switch Datacenters say this is ideal option for existing data centre builds and for companies intending to go green.

“By joining our programme, organizations are able to get their new data centres, even large-scale ones, up and running within about 3-months’ time - which is quite fast actually. Besides that, our technologies guarantee high levels of operating efficiencies with significantly reduced operating costs,” added Snip.
